(Write Where You Find Your Energy.) This past Saturday, I arrived a few minutes early for an Author Spotlight interview for the blog. I arrived early to catch up on one of my manuscripts. After about 30 - 45 minutes, I was surprised at how immersed I was in my writing and how much I was able to write. It took me back to the days when I owned my time and used to spend hours in this very same cafe writing and editing and getting things done. It has been 3 years since then and I was glad to be able to revisit this place and to reconcile with the energy I knew was there but was being sought after in all the wrong places.
The truth is that I can't write at home. There are too many distractions and a lot of push and pull factors in play. In the cafe, I was able to write without these distractions and focus on the task at hand. It was refreshing to realize that it's not inspiration that I lack, but focus. As a result, I have decided to carve out time on Saturday mornings to go out and spend a few hours in pursuit of uninterrupted writing. Where do you find your writing energy?
