What Does This Mean for Your Business?
It was a lovely summer, but it was also busy and, oftentimes, quite chaotic. So I'm sure many parents are celebrating children being back to school, and rightly so.
We love our children, of course, we do. But to run any successful business, there must be boundaries between personal and business hours, something that is almost impossible to do when your children are at home around the clock. So now that children are back in school part of the day (like mine - 1st grade and Pre-K - are), what should this mean for your business for the remainder of 2021?
More Focus: We had quite a busy summer in my house this year. The girls needed to be kept busy and entertained. This meant me carving out time during the day to take them places or find things to keep them occupied. Of course, that also meant that I had to find ways to work around their schedule to meet deadlines and stay on schedule with Amma Edits. It was not an easy feat, but we made it. And with the girls now back in school, I am finding a more convenient schedule that does not require me to sacrifice sleep at night to get my work done. I can now work during their school hours, making sure to focus on the important stuff during that time. Like doing some actual editing, and leaving emails, admin stuff, and web maintenance for the hours when they're home because those do not require as much focus.
Fewer Distractions: Now is not the time to curl up in bed with a book or on the couch in front of the television; now is the time to roll up your sleeves and get to work! If your excuse for not meeting deadlines or putting out blog posts, or engaging with your audience, was the kids, guess what, that excuse no longer exists. Come up with a schedule that works for you now that you have a few hours during the day. And make sure that you stick to that schedule. You will absolutely see results if you continue to implement the things designed to move your business forward.
Increased Growth and Results: Of course, the more focused you are as a business owner, and the fewer distractions there are in your working environments, the greater your chances are of seeing business growth. Need I say more?
Spending scheduled hours during the day working on your business will allow you to be fully present and less stressed during the hours when your children are at home.
